Today the Sevenstones is run by Geoff and
Julia Metcalf, they purchased the pub in the winter of 1999 -
2000 and have since started a major program of refurbishmen which
should be completed in the spring of 2000, in time for the summer
season. This refurbishment includes a large mural by local island
artisit Mandy Mills depicting the logo of the pub - the Sevenstones
lightship, and also rennovation of the bar and seating areas.
Much of the wood used in the refurbishment is wreck wood which
has been washed up on the beaches and recovered by the islanders.
The work on the pub is also extented to the outdoors with the
enlargement of the gardens and outdoor seating areas with the
intention of holding BBQ nights on selected evenings in summer
and in addition to this it is hoped that throughout the summer
there will be many visiting island and mainland bands.
The gardens themselves, though not yet mature are in true Scillonian
style and extend over the hillside offering stunning panoramic
views of the other islands and St. Martins flats, and provide
a perfect setting to enjoy the pubs home cooked food which is
available throughout the year - see menu
- often with daily specials, there is also a wide range of drinks
including real ales
